The rugged look and durable feel of the watch is done by applying a complex vulcanization process. Correspondingly, we have to accept that the rubber coat will never make the watch look dressy; but the IWC Galapagos edition has a stealthy and almost tactical look on the wrist instead.

As can be seen, the hands, batons and numerals feature a crisp white hue; while on the tip of the central chronograph hand is made yellow. Additionally, the small seconds hand located at 6 o’clock position is yellow too.

The in-house calibre 89365 is an automatic, with a frequency of 28,800 kph (4Hz), featuring 35 jewels, and has a power reserve of 68 hours. Its functionn includes a small hacking seconds, a characteristic in common with many IWC models that harks back to its pilots watches of the 1930s.
