Rio 2016 Olympics games is just a year away, and Omega unveiled it’s second special edition watch – Omega Seamster Bullhead Rio 2016. Unlike the other Omega Rio 2016 Watch (Omega Speedmaster Mark II RIO 2016), the Omega Bullhead Chronograph Rio2016 is Limited Edition with only 316 watches in production. The numbers 316 came about as it is the third time golf is being included in the Olympic games, and Rio2016 is held in year 16.

The Seamster Bullhead Rio 2016 is a refresh from the older Omega Bullhead series, which was launched in the year 1969. It is interesting to note that Omega Seamster Bullhead was not known as Bullhead back then. The Omega Seamster Bullhead Rio 2016 watch stayed true to its’ 1970s Omega Bullhead Style. Seamster Bullhead Co-Axial Chronograph 43 x 43 mm is bigger than the 38mm version. The old Omega Bullhead is a chronograph watch used by rally drivers to time laps. But the re-edition version of the reversed chronograph has the same ‘Bullhead’ sheild-shape and the pushers are located at 12 o’clock position instead of the 3 o’clock position. Omega website lets you play around these function on their website. You can try playing their start and restart pusher (at the top left) and reset pusher at the top right. The crown below the 6 o’clock function actuates the rotating bezel. Give it a try.

Although Seamster Bullhead has kept many vintage features, it has a fresh take on the original Bullhead chronograph design, with an Olympic theme. The Bullhead Co-Axial Chronograph colour scheme is distinctive and for one is very in-tuned to the Olympic colours. It is without doubt that Bullhead Rio2016 colour scheme is playful and bold; with the blue on the perforated leather strap, and the stitches are done with yellow, green, red, and black threads. As though mimicking the colours of the Olympic rings, the inner rotating bezel and numbers are using the same colours.

The dial is clean and spacious with red seconds hand at the center and at the central chronograph. Another smaller sundial with small seconds are at the 6 o’clock position, and a date window at 3 o’clock position. PerhapsThe Seamster Bullhead Co-Axial Chronograph 43 x 43 mm is bigger than normal sized watches, so it does not seem cramped with so many functions on the dial.

Omega Bullhead Rio2016 – Movement

The original Omega Bullhead Chronograph used to host a manual-winding movement (930), but this Omega Seamster Bullhead Rio 2016 beats Omega’s 3313. it is an self-winding co-axial chronograph with column-wheel mechanism. Co-Axial escapement on three levels and Omega free-sprung balance is installed for greater precision, stability and durability.

On the case-back of the Seamster Bullhead is tamped with the Rio2016 Olympic Games logo, marking the special edition watch.
