OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M line was launched in 2005, with the Omega’s maritime legacy in mind. OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M first appeared in the Bond movie Casino Royale (2006) on Daniel Craig wrist at the start of the scene, at the Madagaskar chase. This black bezel Seamaster is on black rubber strap, doomed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, running on Omega 2500 caliber with a power reserve of 44 hours. The Seamaster Planet Ocean big size on black rubber size is probably more suitable for outdoor scenes, as Daniel Craig wears the Bond Seamaster 300M Chronometer in the more formal Casino scenes.
Two other different versions of the Omega Seamaster PLanet Ocean 600M watch are Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm in Quantum of Solace (2008), and Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial Chronometer watch in Skyfall (2012). We will give the later Planet Ocean Co-Axial Chronometer watch slightly more attention as it is the Omega Caliber 8500 movement that separates it from the others.
OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial – Quantum of Solace
In the next Bond movie Quantum of Solace (2008), Daniel Craig wears the smaller 42mm OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean. This has the same black unidirectional rotating bezel with steel bracelet, and runs on Caliber Omega 2500 with a power reserve of 48 hours. The Planet Ocean is shown clearly in the opening as well, in the car chase along the shore and in the hills above Lake Garda. Both the watch and James Bond might have been shaken a little, but both are in perfect working order. The Omega Seamaster stays on Bond’s wrist for the rest of the movie.
OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial Chronometer – SkyFall
Though SkyFall was screened on 2012, OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial Chronometer is ready for the Skyfall movie in 2011. A film that is said to have caught up with the past, with the action pack and the mythology essentials of a Bond film. Bond wears the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M with an upgraded Omega Co-Axial calibre 8500 with up to 60 hours power reserve, it is 42mm, steel-on-steel and a black unidirectional rotating bezel. The 2nd featured OMEGA featured in SkyFall is The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra.
Although by today, there are more than 20 references, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Co-Axial Chronometer mainly comes in 42mm or 45.5mm wide cases, and is available with black or blue dials. The 8500 movements are made for big watches and are one of the most sophisticated wristwatch movement assembly lines every created. It takes around 1 day to just assemble the watch manually, before sending these movements to COSC for Chronometer testing. Apart from the stable movement, the case-back is a sapphire display back, and this is no simple task for water resistant to 600 meters (most dive watches has solid case-backs).
